About Us
Motherlode Coffee was founded by two Women in Calgary, AB, Canada in 2020. We had been thinking of being Coffee Roasters for several years but if there is anything 2020 has show us, it is that life is too short and we shouldn’t wait to follow our dreams. To sum it up, we LOVE coffee! One of the things that we love the most is that each coffee bag tells a story. We can’t wait to tell you ours!
The start of our Motherlode journey began in Peru as one of our founders was born and raised in Lima and had a dream of starting her own coffee business. We chose the Llama in our logo to represent her deep rooted connection to Peru. This is also the reason we focused on Peru for our first line of coffee and wanted to do what we could to support other women in Peru.
Calgary and the Rocky Mountains are where our other founder was born and raised. The mountains in our logo are significant as well because together, they both love camping, hiking and taking road trips. There is nothing like drinking coffee while looking at the picturesque beauty of the Rockies.
The coffee beans in our logo are significant because of their ability to create unity, connection and energy. Our founders are from two different cultures and upbringings but they have one common similarity and that is their love for coffee. Not just drinking coffee but the culture, artistry and knowledge of coffee.
How did we come up with the name MOTHERLODE?
We consider ourselves so fortunate that we are two women who get to live out our dream and have so many opportunities as women entrepreneurs. We may not be money rich but we are definitely LIFE RICH. We believe we hit the Motherlode in Life and we hope you feel like you hit the jackpot too every time you take a sip of our coffee.
